Bobtail Bantam Cochins
This variety of bantam cochin came about in the 1990's in Berlin, Germany. It got its name from the Old English Sheepdog, or "Bobtail." Their beauty comes from a mutation of the color "black-red," but there is no explanation of how it actually gets there. If a "bobtail" is crossed with any other color bird besides a bobtail, a "true" bobtail will not result. Because of this, they are very hard to find. I am lucky to be one of few who are working on perfecting the breed. Please reach out if you would like more information on the birds known for the fluffiest feathers of the cochin breed variety! -Kathryn
